The Love of the Roman Woman

The legend says that a certain Roman Cymon (Cimon), who was sentenced to death, was in prison awaiting execution. The jailers, believing that the old man himself would die if he was not fed, stopped giving him food. His daughter Pero was allowed to visit her father daily, clean up after him, give him water, but she was forbidden to bring food with her. The daughter, who had recently given birth to a child who was lactating, could not calmly look at the hungry suffering of the exhausted Cymon. She decided to secretly feed him with her milk.
